Vichit Yathip, President of the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Association; Air Marshal Triroj Virojtriratana, Ministry of Defense of Thailand; and Mr. Chatarat Hiranchaowiwat, former head of the Industrial Association of Nakhon Pathom. Asst. Prof. Douglas Rhein, Social Science Division chairperson, along with several faculty members, was also present.

The Social Science Division launched this academic year its new degree program, BA International Relations and Government Affairs (IRGA). According to Ajarn Rhein, graduates of IRGA can expect to have successful careers in government service, diplomacy, international organizations, non-profit organizations, business companies, and other related fields.

As a result of the preliminary talks, both parties agreed that the Social Science Division will explore the possibility to recruit students to enroll in MUIC.
The Social Science Division is currently working with Zaman University in Cambodia and other universities in ASEAN to establish a 2 +2 dual degree program in IRGA and is reaching out to high schools to promote its new program.

“We believe that international students in ASEAN will benefit from greater contact, cooperation and mutual trust with their neighbors. Allowing students a choice of compatible international tertiary education programs with curriculums, grades and academic certificates and degrees which are recognized regionally will facilitate greater inbound student flows and bolster cross-border educational opportunities, both in terms of research and study opportunities. The IRGA program aims to promote student mobility within ASEAN, and CMLV (Cambodia-Myanmar-Laos-Vietnam) in particular, which will lead to greater cultural exchanges and regional harmonization. As the program grows it will create a regional space for discussion and the development of multicultural awareness,” Ajarn Rhein added.
